How’s your summer going, my friends? Are you making a splash?
How are you breaking away from the ordinary? Any change in routine can be so helpful in recharging your batteries. That could mean trying some new summer recipes on the grill (ever used veggies or fruit?!) or getting away for a long weekend. Maybe it’s doing something exhilarating and risk-taking, like cliff diving! Or maybe it’s an Air BnB in a place with no cell service, no wifi, and no connections. Plunge into a week of being unplugged!
Whatever recharging means to you, will you promise me something? Will you actually do it? Take time to replenish your energy stores, give your soul some rest, and laugh. Rebuild those relaxation muscles and make some love. I ask, because I know what it’s like to not do that. Last year, Eric and I took no break in the summer. We did not recharge, and I was absolutely depleted. I felt like I had to run away! This summer, I refuse to let that happen again. I want to be intentional and restore myself!
Someone once said that in order to rest, we need one hour a day, one day a week, one weekend a month, one week a quarter, and one month a year. Does that sound crazy to you? Why?! Other countries do it! Why shouldn’t we? Now, that’s not where I am right now, but it’s where I want to be. I want to fill my well with rest. Won’t you join me?
