Addiction Treatment

Additions can feel like a dark hole, but it doesn’t have to. There is hope!

Addiction may or may not have been a problem before COVID-19 hit our country, but we are seeing a huge uptick in issues for many people around drinking, online video addiction and overuse of other substances at this time.

We can help with Online Therapy and/or find appropriate help for you or a loved one. Call us today at 503-869-8108.

Have you noticed a substance or activity that you once enjoyed is now causing you frustration and holding you back from the health and freedom you desire? Has it hindered you or the relationships in your life? Have others made comments about possibly using it too much? Has it hindered your work or school performance? Perhaps you have noticed an increasing inability to limit your consumption of alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana, other recreational drugs, caffeine, pornography, gambling, and video gaming.

The effects of addiction can be devastating and debilitating on you and your loved ones. You may have attempted to stop using previously, however, the struggle to completely break free is hard. Maybe your addiction helped you cope with your pain and life’s challenges, maybe it helped you feel momentarily better about yourself, or maybe it helped you enjoy a social situation. Yet, now you are experiencing the negative effects of addiction, and now you are ready to take the steps of courage and begin your healing journey.

These challenges are very common; you are not alone. There are many others who have been where you are and who are now experiencing healing and freedom. Recovery Worldwide, LLC states that:

  • Over 20 million Americans over the age of 12 have an addiction
  • 100 people die every day from drug overdoses. This rate has tripled in the past 20 years.
  • Over 5 million emergency room visits in 2011 were drug-related.
  • 2.6 million people with addictions have a dependence on both alcohol and illicit drugs.
  • 9.4 million people in 2011 reported driving under the influence of illicit drugs.
  • 6.8 million people with an addiction have a mental illness.
  • Rates of illicit drug use are highest among those aged 18 to 25.
  • Over 90% of those with addiction began drinking, smoking or using illicit drugs before the age of 18.

It can seem overwhelmingly hard to begin the journey to recovery and freedom. The good news is, at Core Values Counseling, you have compassionate and trained counselors along with Neurofeedback therapy that can help you begin this journey successfully.

How We Can Help

At Core Values Counseling we want to personalize your experience. We will use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness & Relaxation Techniques, Solution-focused and strength-based therapies, Psycho-education, and more in order to meet your needs the best we can.  We also use a neurofeedback program called Brainpaint. Neurofeedback is a scientifically proven way to improve the way you feel and function in the world by improving how your brain operates. Neurofeedback can help your brain heal and recover from the impact of addiction. Clients have noticed significant decreases in anxiety, alleviating feelings of depression, sleeping better, and increased ability to cope with life’s challenges. This type of therapy works well when done in conjunction with other therapy models.
