At Core Values Counseling, we have a wide range of fees for counseling/therapy. Fees are based on the level of experience and types of training the therapists have. *We do not currently have any providers who accept Medicare.

A valid credit card is required to be kept on file in the client’s account. If seeing an in-network provider, we will collect any copay, coinsurance or deductible amount within 24 hours of your session. Insurance billing is dependent on a medically necessary diagnosis. If your diagnosis does not meet medically necessary criteria, your sessions will be self-pay.

COUPLES THERAPY:

Couples counseling is offered on a self-pay basis. Most insurance plans do not cover couples or relationship therapy. Our clinicians use the Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy, which considers the relationship itself as the client, rather than treating one partner as the identified patient. Because this model does not align with insurance billing requirements, we do not bill insurance or submit claims for couples counseling sessions.

This policy helps ensure ethical practice and compliance with insurance regulations. We encourage clients to contact their insurance provider directly to understand their mental health benefits.

Important Update for OHP Clients:

To our OHP Clients,

As of October 1, 2025, the Oregon Health Plan (OHP – CareOregon/HealthShare ) will no longer cover care with “out-of-network” therapists or group practices like Core Values Counseling. Unfortunately, our requests to join OHP networks have been denied due to closed provider panels. We know this is difficult news and want to support you as best we can.

Your options:

We can refer you to one of our intern counselors who offer a sliding scale.
You may also talk with your current therapist about a reduced private-pay rate if that feels possible.
Call OHP (the grievance line on your card) and let them know you’d like Core Values Counseling to be allowed in-network with CareOregon/Healthshare.
Ask about “open card/fee-for-service.” Call OHA at 1-800-273-0557 and see if you can move only your behavioral health coverage to an open card. If approved, you could continue seeing your counselor here.

Self-Pay

Our counseling fees vary by provider. A valid credit card is required to be kept on file in the client’s account, and the client’s credit card will be charged within 24 hours of each completed session.

If a client has an out-of-network insurance plan, or sees a provider who is not in-network with their insurance plan, we are happy to provide a Superbill (Statement for Insurance Reimbursement), which our clients can download and submit to their insurance plan. Any potential insurance reimbursement depends on the client’s specific diagnosis, insurance plan benefits and deductibles. Clients are encouraged to verify their specific plan benefits with their insurance company, by requesting eligibility and benefit information for “outpatient mental health” visits. The full session fee will be collected within 24 hours of each session, and Superbills will be provided after the completion of each month.

**Please note that if your provider is a Graduate Student Intern, we are unable to provide a Superbill.

SLIDING SCALE POLICY:

If a client is not covered by an insurance that we accept, we will offer a sliding scale discount. Such a discount will be at the discretion of Core Values Counseling, based upon a reasonable amount the client can pay.

Cancellation Policy

LATE CANCELLATIONS / NO-SHOWS: If notice is given LESS than 48 hours in advance, or if you do not attend your scheduled session, you will be charged the full session fee. Late Cancellation / No-Show fees cannot be covered by insurance. To avoid a fee, you can change your session to telehealth by contacting our office and a link will be sent.

LATE ARRIVALS: Arriving late will result in a shorter session. Arriving 15 minutes or later will result in session cancelation.
