What are some unique ways you love to spend time with your partner?
Eric and I love long road trips. Just getting in the car and driving to a far-off destination, with nothing but long, scenic highway stretches between us and a new adventure. Those long stretches become long moments — hours, even — of connection! We both can get distracted by work, by chores around the house, by friends, and sitting in a car together really makes it easy to just be together. We’ve always particularly enjoyed listening to books in the car! Even when our boys were young, we made a practice this on road trips. We would travel to Montana every summer to see Eric’s folks. Those journeys came with so many great books: The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and Chronicles of Narnia were my boys’ favorites.
Nowadays, on road trips we usually have at least two books going. We will listen to a self-improvement book for an hour or so, then we switch to a mystery novel or adventure, something just for fun. It makes the time go by so quickly, and it feels like an adventure all in itself!
