Everyone thinks of January as the time to set goals for the new year, but here at Core Values Counseling, we just finished our goals and planning meeting for 2021. I have to admit, when we first started talking about having a goals meeting as early as November? I wasn’t a fan. I balked at the notion. It seemed so early! I’m still recovering from 2020, thank you very much! But Eric, being the wise Innovator that he is, wanted our team to give it a try — and I’m so glad we did.
Here’s the thing: if you get a plan in place for the new year early, you have time to start preparing your hearts and minds for the change that is to come! You can begin setting up new practices and rituals that will lead to success. You don’t feel all the pressure of January 1st; instead you have time to adjust your schedule, routine, and expectations.
At CVC we have always believed that having a shared vision for couples is one of the most critical elements of a strong relationship. It is the anchor that helps hold things together when life gets messy!
There really hasn’t ever been a year we want to leave behind more than 2020, so I encourage you to sit down for a few well spent minutes and dream about what you’d like to see happen in the year to come — especially personally and relationally.
And remember, if you want to bounce this off someone or get help with the conversation, we are always here to help!
