Why Adult Therapy with Core Values Counseling?

You might be looking for support around:

  • Depression, anxiety, or stress

  • Loss, life transitions, or grief

  • Challenging relationships (friends, family, work)

  • Career burnout or dissatisfaction

  • ADHD symptoms or difficulty focusing

  • Lingering effects of trauma

At Core Values Counseling, we understand how hard it can be to navigate these experiences on your own. Our goal is to create a safe space where healing and growth are within reach.

We have compassionate and well-trained counselors who, along with modalities like Coaching, Neurofeedback therapy and EMDR, can help you begin this journey successfully. Whether you’re in Hillsboro, Beaverton, Portland, Tigard, Forest Grove — or joining us via telehealth anywhere in the state of Oregon — we’re here to help you restore balance and move forward with clarity.

Our Approach/Services

Talk Therapy (Traditional Psychotherapy)

Our licensed counselors and therapists use evidence-based conversational therapy to help you process feelings, reframe negative thought patterns, and develop coping strategies. Through talk therapy, you can build insight, improve emotional regulation, and foster healthier relationships.

EMDR

EMDR is especially effective for processing trauma. Using bilateral stimulation, we help your brain reprocess difficult memories so that painful experiences no longer control your present. EMDR can reduce distress, reshape limiting beliefs, and help you respond more from your present-day self — not your past pain.

Neurofeedback

  • Reducing anxiety or depression
  • Less emotional reactivity
  • Better sleep & fewer nightmares
  • Improved focus and emotional control

Neurofeedback works beautifully alongside talk therapy and EMDR for deeper, longer-term change.

Coaching Services

Coaching is a forward-looking, action-oriented process. If you’re ready to make concrete changes — whether in your career, relationships, or personal goals — our coaching services help you define where you want to go and map out a realistic plan to get there. Together, we set measurable goals, build momentum, and maintain accountability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take new clients?
Yes — we are currently welcoming new clients for both in-person sessions in Hillsboro, and telehealth across Oregon.

What if I’m not sure whether to choose coaching or therapy?
That’s totally normal. In your intake call, we’ll talk through your goals together. If coaching seems like the right fit, we’ll build a plan to move you forward. If therapy feels more appropriate, we’ll match you with a clinician who specializes in your area of need.

Is neurofeedback safe?
Absolutely. BrainPaint neurofeedback is non-invasive and has a strong safety profile. Your practitioner will explain how it works, what to expect, and how it might support your mental wellness journey.

How long does EMDR take?
Each EMDR journey is unique. Some people feel meaningful change in a few sessions, while others work for a longer period. During your intake and planning, we’ll set expectations together based on your goals and needs.

Do you take insurance?
We currently have practitioners who are in-network with Moda and Aetna, though insurance does not generally cover Coaching or Neurofeedback services. You can view all of our insurance and fee information HERE.
